  31. I just exchanged a new Sportster 33.6 internal modem that was constantly 
  32. disconnecting (usually during a long file transfer). After the disconnect, an 
  33. ATI6 would look like the modem had just initialized. It had no idea that it 
  34. had ever had a connection to begin with. It might have been a bad component. 
  35. Although I still am not sure exactly what the "Spiraling Death" USR problem 
  36. was, the articles that I did see seem to indicate that it also was a heat 
  37. related component problem. The new modem works fine and I've yet to see it 
  38. disconnect.
